The reality star allegedly attempted to punch and kick a police officer, and threatened to kill both the cop and their sister, per the incident report
Love Island USA star Hannah Smith was arrested on two felony charges after allegedly threatening and attempting to punch a police officer.
The incident occurred on Sept. 30, when the Charlotte native — who appeared on season 6 of the reality series — was escorted out of an Atlanta concert venue for being “disorderly by yelling and screaming,” according to police records obtained by PEOPLE.
Emergency Medical Staff (EMS) were reportedly present due to Smith being “intoxicated” and as she exited the venue, the report alleged that the reality star allegedly punched the EMS staffer and made contact with their right arm. The staff member did not want to press charges.
Smith then allegedly attempted to punch a police officer who was trying to help her, but she did not make contact. Smith, who was put down on the ground by the officer, was then placed under arrest. Per the report, she allegedly attempted to kick the officer while on the ground multiple times but failed to make contact again.
As she was transported to jail, Smith also allegedly threatened to kill both the cop and the cop’s sister multiple times.
Smith was booked into jail at about 11:45 p.m. local time and held on a $8,000.00 bond, according to jail records obtained by PEOPLE. She has since been released.
The star was charged with two felonies, willful obstruction of a law enforcement officer and terroristic threats and acts.
The Cobb County Police Department did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment, while a representative for Smith declined to comment.
The Love Island USA star has since returned to social media with no mention of her arrest, sharing photos of and videos of herself on Instagram and TikTok with limited comments.
Smith quickly became a fan-favorite contestant in season 6 of Love Island USA but didn’t end up sticking around the villa for long.
After brief connections with both Kendall Washington and Hakeem White, she attempted to strike up a romance with another contestant, Miguel Harichi. After he chose to couple up with Olivia “Liv” Walker instead, Smith became the season’s first day-one girl to get dumped from the island.
Reflecting on her exit from the dating series with Today in June, Smith said that Harichi “was so flirty, and held everything to himself.”
“He didn’t let anybody know who he was choosing,” she told the outlet. “I was very shocked that he did choose Liv, like she was shocked herself … I did think maybe I had a chance, but obviously I thought wrong,” she added.
Also addressing her short-lived time coupled up with Washington, Smith told Today, “I’m actually very happy that me and Kendall did end up getting to meet each other and being paired up with each other because we had so much in common. With me and him, we were just like the goofy couple in the villa.”
“We had so much fun and I really got to know him,” she continued. “And I can honestly say Kendall is a great guy. He is so genuine. Even though we didn’t end up together and our connection didn’t last as long as I wanted it to, I have nothing bad to say about him.”
Love Island USA is now streaming in full on Peacock.
