Male lions are still considered “lords of the steppe” thanks to their superior strength compared to many other animals. However, the task of hunting in the herd will be carried out by the female lion, while the male usually plays the role of protecting the herd.
Lions are the only big cats to live in groups, which gives them the ability to hunt with the highest success rate of any large ungulate – hence the nickname “king” Lord of the jungle”.
