Wayne Rooney might be the next big name to grace our screens in a documentary series, following in the footsteps of Wrexham owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

Having taken charge of Plymouth Argyle, the former Manchester United idol looks set to become the focal point of a new docu-series capturing his fresh challenge in the Championship after Plymouths tight relegation escape last term. The Sun has claimed that cameras are already in full swing, documenting Rooneys backstage moves at the club.

As to whether he will channel Wrexham manager Phil Parkinsons famously fiery half-time pep talks is yet to be seen. However, already, the soon-to-be show is drawing lines with Welcome to Wrexham.

In the spotlight as well, Rooneys other half, Coleen, is dodging creepy-crawlies on ITVs Im A CelebrityGet Me Out Of Here.  Before her jungle jaunt, Wayne was shuttling between Devon and their Cheshire nest, leaving Coleen to helm the family front with their four kids in tow.

Coleen talked to the Mirror on keeping their love alive despite the miles, revealing Wayne comes back once a week, sometimes twice, depending on the fixtures. Usually, he has Sunday off so he might come home.

Whats good about the Championship is that a lot of games are closer to me, closer to home, up in the North. So hell come home on a Saturday evening and spend Sunday with us, depending on what the boys have got on.

So literally, on the Sunday before I flew off, we all went to Klays football tournament, we came home and had dinner together so it was a nice family day. Time together is limited, more so than ever now because of the travelling and stuff

But not long ago it was international break, so we went away and got two nights together which was lovely. The international breaks are probably when we spend the most time together.

Its an international break now but obviously Im here otherwise we would have gone away and spent a night or two away together.

The news that Rooney could be appearing in a documentary has not gone down well everywhere. Plymouth fans on social media have expressed concerns with their team currently placed just one point above the drop zone in the Championship.

Rooney has registered four wins, seven defeats and four draws in his 15 games in charge this season. Supporters are worried the documentary could distract him from his role.

Posting on X, formerly Twitter, Troy Hill said: He seems to want to do everything other than focussing on winning football matches. Theres a time and a place for everything and for me, the timing couldnt be further off.

Meanwhile, Nick Jones said: Rooney needs to concentrate 100% on Argyle. If we go down and he gets sacked, he wont have a managerial profile to worry about.
