Animals have such strong maternal instincts that they’ll act as a mother to young ones, even if they’re not their biological children — or even the same species. This kind of arrangement can be great not just for young ones in need of a little love, but for mothers who don’t have babies of their own but don’t have anyone to care for. That was the case recently after one cat, who just lost her own kittens, decided to become a mom to a litter of newborn puppies.
The story comes from a TikTok user who goes by @kiwigirlxoxox. She writes that her cat lost her litter of kittens in March. But soon after, her dog gave birth to a litter of puppies, and the cat became very interested in them.
“It’s now been 4 weeks. She sleeps with them every night while the mumma dog sleeps on my bed,” kiwigirlxoxox wrote in the TikTok video.
The video warmed hearts, with many online commenters saying that the cat was “co-parenting” the puppies with their mom, and that the pups are going to be half-cat when they grow up.
In another video, the “cat & dog mum” both wrangle the puppies into their doggie bed for nap time.
“They are the luckiest set for pups to have 2 mama’s that love them,” one user replied.
