When he arrived at the Wake SPCA in North Carolina, he was so big that it took two drivers to transport him. A spunky five-year-old kitty sauntered into the Wake County branch of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and has quickly captured the hearts of cat lovers online. The feline was transported from Davidson County, a two-hour trip, and caught the attention of SPCA staff the moment they saw his photo. Darci Vanderslik, a spokesperson for the organization, reports that “They alerted us to Bazooka here, and once we saw the pictures, we were like ‘we have to get this kitty’”.
Bazooka was brought to a shelter when his owner, who suffered from dementia, passed away. The cat had been overfed unintentionally, and this led to him becoming overweight. Bazooka is now under a new diet plan with his foster family, and he is gradually losing weight. He is also recovering emotionally from his previous owner’s love and care. The foster family is taking things slow and aiming to reduce Bazooka’s weight by 20 to 25 pounds as it is quite heavy for a cat. Despite his size, Bazooka, who is a ginger tabby, is cooperative and has a calm and relaxed demeanor. His name may sound intimidating, but he is a friendly feline.
